Shipping starts (GROUP 1)

Hi all!

First thing first: make sure you saw the previous update; it is very important (here) so if you have a Keymaster Ultimate in your pledge, you belong to GROUP 2 (418 backers).

Finally, it is shipping time!!!  I try to make it clear with 3 chapters :)

In this update:

•  1) GROUP 1: 659 backers 
•  2) How fulfillment works 
•  3) Inquiries and shipping issues 

1) GROUP 1 parcels

As written in the previous update, the backers in GROUP 1 are the backers without Keymaster Ultimate.
 

2) How fulfillment works

The packages are shipped from 2 different fulfillment centers:
 

•  FROM GERMANY (52wonders) for Europe (including Ukraine and Turkey) with DHL (Germany) and UPS (all the others).
•  FROM TEXAS (Gamblers Warehouse) for the US, Russia, Asia, Australia Canada, and the rest of the world with UPS, FedEx, USPS (depending on the package size and destination).

 Procedure 

• Once the label is created you will get an email that includes the tracking number and where to track it.
• You will not get a mail from Backerkit because this split fulfillment forces me to do things manually.
• It might take a few days before the tracking number gets active especially for int. parcels from the US.
• Once the package is on its way it is a matter of days (USA and EU) or weeks (International)
• It will take up to 2 weeks (from today) before all the parcels for Group 1 are shipped out because COVID-19  slows down everything.

 Transit time  

•  USA: 2-4 DAYS (USPS)
•  GERMANY: 2-4 DAYS (DHL)
•  EUROPE: 2-6 DAYS (UPS)
•  REST OF THE WORLD: 1-4 WEEKS, depending on the destination, the carrier, the pandemic etc.

3) Inquiries and shipping issues

Let some time pass and let the fulfillment centers do their job.

Before you write an email asking about your tracking number, make sure you read these following cases:

 

CASE 1. tracking number not received or inactive

• check your spam/junk folder in the mailbox associated with your Kickstarter account.
• writing a comment on Kickstarter or social media does not help because I cannot keep track of it.
•  European backers: you can contact 52WONDERS. Write to: [email protected] 
•  European backers: you can track the order here: 52shipways.com  or with DHL/UPS.
•  US+rest of the world backers: if there is a problem contact me with a mail message via Kickstarter, not with a comment on Kickstarter or via social media.

CASE 2. Parcel in transit, but taking too long 

• Remember that the ongoing pandemic is slowing down everything
• US backers: inquire USPS  or UPS/FedEx (depending on the carrier)
• European backers: you can contact 52WONDERS. Write to: [email protected] 
• If the tracking number shows the package arrived in your country and not yet delivered, you need to call the customer service of your postal service or the carrier associated to it. 

CASE 3. Any kind of issue with the received package

• contact me with a mail message via Kickstarter, not with a comment on Kickstarter or social media.
• take pictures of the carton, the shipping label and the items, I will tell you where to send them.
• If the package arrives with damage and the items are damaged too, take pictures of the package, the label, and the items. Write a mail via Kickstarter and I will follow up.
• For any other issue, contact me via Kickstarter (mail).

CASE 4. Unable to deliver and/or returning Parcels 

• If the address is incorrect and the parcel returns, unfortunately, I have to ask you additional shipping costs to reship the package a second time to the correct address.
• Remember that you can keep track of your item and see if there are issues or exceptions. 

CASE 5. Customs (int.backers) 

• if the customs of your country decide to stop the package, open the package, inspect the package, and apply tax or fees, I cannot refund or reship the items. These cases are quite rare, and Europe is immune since we shipped from Germany.

CASE 6. Parcels marked as delivered but not received

• if a package is marked as delivered when shipped to a consolidation center, and you do not get it when they forward it to you, it is their mistake and they will have to refund you. I do not reship.
• not reshipping if marked as delivered. Please take this issue with the carrier that transported the items in your country.
• Check your mailbox, garden, or porch more carefully or ask family or neighbors and see if someone took it on your behalf.

 CASE 7. Protective plastic and microscopic dents 

• All the decks are protected with shrink-wrap plastic. I do not consider a deck damaged if the protective plastic got a hole or slightly damaged.
• microscopic dents are not considered as damage and the item will not be replaced. See case 3 if the items are damaged.

Backers' Responsibility

I do all I can to keep you posted, help, and deliver what you pledged for, but make sure that:
 

• you read the updates and acquire the information I provide.
• you entered the correct and complete shipping address.
• you keep an eye to your shipment and follow the tracking number.

CLAIMS deadline

• I do not accept claims after 90 days of the shipping date.
• I do not accept claims about the items after 15 days of the delivery date.

Hi all!

This is an important update about shipping, please read everything carefully.

In this update:

•  Production status: Keymaster Ultimate and Uncut Sheets are late and I do not know why.
•  Split fulfillment 
•  Your shipping address 

Production Status

It does not make sense, but this is the status of the production. For some reason Keymaster Ultimate and the uncut sheets will be ready on October 26.

I inquired of course, no explanation yet. 

Keymaster Basic and Superior are heading Texas with air freight, and Germany with ground operations.

Split Fulfillment: 2 GROUPS

ULTRA IMPORTANT > I decided to split the fulfillment in 2 parts:

•  GROUP 1: All the backers without Keymaster Ultimate  -> shipping starts in mid October.
•  GROUP 2: All the uncut sheets and Backers with Keymaster Ultimate -> shipping starts the end of October.

Explanations:

GROUP 1:

You DO NOT have Keymaster Ultimate (the one with the miniature), so you get your rewards between mid october and mid November (depending on transit time, country of destination, covid-19 delays, God).

GROUP 2:

You DO have the Keymaster Ultimate (plus other items), so your reward is shipped most likely at the beginning of November and hopefully you receive it by the end of November (depending on the same factors written above).

UNCUT SHEETS

Remember that the uncut sheets are shipped separately in a postal tube, so these have to be shipped at the end of October.

a FAQ I am anticipating:

Q: I have Keymaster Ultimate and the art book, can you ship the book first and then the Keymaster Ultiimate when it arrives?

A: Sorry, not possible. Everything has to be in one package.

If it was not clear, here is the long story short:

Your shipping address (most important part)

GROUP 1 

Group 1 gets a mail asking to confirm your shipping address. 

• If you do not need to change/update it, then no action is needed.
• If you want to update/change it, please follow the instructions ASAP! 

If untouched, addresses will be locked automatically after 48 hours.

If you forget to change it, the items will be shipped to the old one and things get complicated. Reshipping to the right address will require additional shipping costs to be paid by you.

GROUP 2 

Group 2 will get the same email when the time comes.

TRANSIT TIME

Remember that we are under a global pandemic, so everything is slowed down. Even packing is slower than usual. It takes from 4 up to 30 days depending on destination. More info in the next update.

I am really sorry for this delay. It does not make sense at all, but that is what they told me.

I decided to start fulfillment in this way because I am so sick of waiting, and you are too.

I am sorry for the backers with the Ultimate variant in their reward, I know it is frustrating, disappointing and they do not deserve it, but it is what it is. I think it is better to start shipping what is ready.

I will write another update in a few days and explain how shipping works.

Completion dates

Hi all,

I am about to get a nervous breakdown and the vein on my forehead is pulsating. No bad news, just a very frustrating. As you know Cartamundi had to reprint the entire batch  because of quality issues (bad cut, and bad plate). Actually they did, but the cut is happening now.

I just paste their email about Keymaster after I inquired for an urgent update.

"We’re currently cutting the sheets and the cello-wrapped decks for the Basic and Superior variant. Product will be ready by Sept 25th, for further pack-out.  End product will then be available for shipment by Oct 2nd.

For the Ultimate decks, these have been reprinted. We’re putting the new varnish on now. For the timing, we’re awaiting feedback on the gilding timing, before we can schedule further pack-out. But these will come definitely some time later than the rest of the decks."

 What does it mean?

On October 2nd they will not be shipping out anything, because they have to wait for Keymaster Ultimate. At least Keymaster Basic and Superior will be ready and packed.

Shipping will be with air freight, so it takes less than a week.

I do hope that they do the gilding and the packing fast, we are talking of 550 decks in total, not the whole annual supply of a casino in Vegas.

Estimated shipping (to backers) date?

It hurts writing this, but based on my experience it might start in a F***ING month or even more.

What's next?

Nothing, we just wait. Meanwhile I am getting a prescription for Xanax or I am going to cry tears of stress and anxiety in a corner of a dark empty room.

Shipping addresses

When the decks are about to be shipped from Cartamundi to the fulfillment center, you will receive a mail asking to confirm/change/update the shipping address. If you do not take action, the address you entered during the survey is the one that will be used.

News about The House of the Rising Spade

Keymaster tarot belong to the series "The House of the Rising Spade" and the Cartomancer variant was the most popular one among the poker size variants, now sold out / out of stock.

Cartomancer will be back in stock as second edition, which more or less like a reprint.

I teamed up with RarePlayingCards.com for the production of the second edition of the House of Rising Spade (Cartomancer) and it features some differences if compared to the first one:

• New tuckbox diecut (glued on bottom)
• Different tuckbox paper stock (Lotrek's suggestion for a different one for technical reasons)
• Different bottom-flap design.
• Different top-flap design.
• Inner print: similar, with differences.
• Ace of spades: date in roman numeral becomes MMXX instead of MMXVIII.
• Ace of spades: small tweaks to the illustration.
• 55th card: 3rd Joker is The Fool from Keymaster Tarot adapted to poker size.
• Paper Stock: B9 slimline instead of the discontinued B9
• Tuckbox is a little thinner (1mm less)
• cards have cellophane with golden tier strip
• Uncut sheets will be available as well.
• Faro variant will not be reprinted.
• Custom HOTRS brick boxes not reprinted

When?

I do not know. Order submitted, waiting for estimated completion date. Consider it is Cartamundi, so I expect to count months rather than weeks.

Cards ready and perfect!

Hi all!

Just a quick update about the production status. I talked to Cartamundi today and the cards are ready and being gilded as we speak.

They could not give ma an ETA (Estimated Time of Arrival), because they wait for gilding to be done. I wait for it. It will be air-freight to Texas, so the transfer from Belgium to the fulfillment center is quite fast. 

Gilding and assembling should be relatively fast, we are talking about 550 decks in total (Ultimate variant).

Production status:

SHIPPING ADDRESSES

Once I know the ETA (wait for the next update), you will receive an email asking you to confirm/change/update your shipping address.

If you do not take any action within 48h, the address that counts is the one you entered in the beginning when you completed the survey.

NEWS! cards almost ready

Hi all!

GOOD NEWS! the cards are almost ready and reprinting is happening as we speak (according to Cartamundi) :)

I received a faulty sample from the first run and I am very pleased with the outcome. I made a quick video and even if it is a little dark, it gives the idea and shows all the 78+2 cards. The gold foil application is great and finally the number cards show their peculiarity in a clear way.

The production status is the following:

Next step is gilding of the Ultimate variant, and it will take 10 days more or less. 

After all gilded decks are ready, it is time for assembling (cards in boxes), seal application, packing, and shipping to the fulfillment centers (Germany and Texas).

As soon as I have more news I write another update with details about shipping and addresses.
